Youth leaders under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) have been urged to shun acts capable of destroying the image of the Party in the State but to engage in activities aimed at upholding the tenets of the Party as the electioneering campaign begins in earnest.
Speaking when he received a delegation of PDP Youth Leaders from across the seventeen(17) Local Government Areas of the State at the Party's Secretariat in Umuahia on Wednesday,the State PDP Chairman,Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere assured them that his administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of the youths in the party and that he remains fully committed to seeing that the youths are given equal opportunities in the party both at the State and Local Government levels.
The State PDP Boss commended the Youth Leaders for their invaluable contributions towards the socio-economic growth of the State and for their unwavering support to the PDP led adminstration in Abia and advised them to remain calm and to support policies and programmes aimed at promoting unity and peaceful coexistence in the State.
The State PDP Chairman also maintained that the Party under his watch, places premium on promoting youth participation and inclusiveness in governance while assuring that he would continue to liaise with other relevant stakeholders in the Party in order to address their challenges and to protect their interest in the Party.
Earlier in his address,the Leader of the delegation and the youth leader of PDP in Isiala Ngwa South,Mr Donatus Orji said that they were in the party's secretariat to congratulate the Chairman on his birthday celebration which was celebrated before the yuletide and for the successes recorded so far by the Party under his administration and commended the State Chairman for his leadership qualities which have manifested positively in the party.
The youth leaders used the opportunity to reel out the challenges confronting them to include; improved welfare package and also pledged their total support for the party and the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led adminstration in Abia..
The high point of the visit was;the presentation of a photo frame to the Chairman.
The State youth leader,Chief Patrick Onwuka. was present during the visit.
