The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs,Senator George Akume,fnim has prayed for the protection of Nigerians and the Muslim community on the occasion of the EID-EL-FITR celebrations, which has coincided with the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
In his goodwill message the Senator George Akume encouraged the Muslim community and Nigerians to remain united,with the shared spirit of understanding,cooperation and love,as the country struggles with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senator George Akume further called on Muslims to take advantage of the spiritual lessons and teachings of Prophet Muhammed (Rasul Allah) and the Ramadan period as contained in the Holy Quran in praying for God’s intervention against the COVID-19 scourge in Nigeria and the world over.
The Hon. Minister also prayed to God to ease the challenges faced by Nigerians under the lockdown. He expressed optimism of government’s unrelenting commitment to the control,prevention and the hope of overcoming COVID -19 in the country.
Senator George Akume urged Muslims and Nigerians to abide by and sustain the control and preventive measures against COVID-19 as they celebrate the EID-EL-FITR, which include social distancing, the use of face mask,washing of hands and voluntary testings.
